A human research study was done in October of 2017 to test 0.5% Propolis in Lip Balm versus Aciclovir Cream 5% for patients with Herpes sores – fever blisters and cold sores.  189 patients used Propolis Cream and 190 patients were treated with Aciclovir Cream.  Application was made five times a day.

Propolis  extract lip balm 0.5% was found superior in the treatment of episodes of Herpes labialis over Aciclovir Cream 5% in patients.  Encrustation or epithelization of the sores (crusting over, closing up, forming a scab) occurred a day sooner (4 days) with the Propolis Lip Balm.  In addition, there were significant faster improvements of the pain, burning, itching, tension and swelling with the propolis lip balm versus the Aciclovir Cream.

The research was published at ScienceDirect.com and is linked here:   Current Therapeutic Research

Once again, BEE Powered ingredients show superior results than the use of pharmaceuticals!

Psalms from the Hive

 by Jeannie Saum

7:30 am and we’re on the road, By 9:00, unpacking the truck

Unload, set up, and pray for good luck!

Two customers before we were done, A sign of good things to come?IMG_1851

The whirlwind hit promptly at one, and didn’t let up until it was done.

No sitting or resting or lunch!

We talked and shared and met  new folks, interested in blessings from bee and hive.

We sold lots of products and spread the word

We dedicate these blessings to God!

IMG_1850Today, we are recovering from our first business adventure, a whirlwind two days at the Lithopolis HoneyFest.  We are absolutely exhausted, but thrilled with our experience and success.  We are blessed!  We debuted our Hive and Honey BEEpothecary line of health and skin care products, and spent two propolis speechdays meeting new people and sharing the amazing benefits of honeybee hive resources.  Our products sold very well and we are thrilled with the response we got from customers.  We had two people come back the second day to report success and pain relief from using our products for just one day!

Our grown children were a great help to us – filling in when we needed a break, bringing us food, and drinks, loaning us a phone when we had cell coverage issues and just being generally supporting and encouraging.  Our friends came out to support and encourage us, too.  And we got to see lots of old friends and aquaintances and reconnect.  And the perfect ending to the weekend was what we believe was a God-inspired meeting of a delightful young couple who blessed us with their faith, openness, encouragement, and their prayers.  We have a feeling that blessings will come from this encounter and have plans to see them again.

We still need to unpack, but today we start thinking about next steps!  What do we do next?  How soon can we be ready to do another event?  What products do we need to make more off? What sold well or didn’t sell well?  How hard do we want to work?!customers

We have also been able to get our online store up and running.  It can be located through a link on the Our Products page of this blog.  Check out our all natural skin care and health products made with amazing honeybee resources!

We are truly blessed!  We aspire to share the blessing God has given to us in our natural world and the honeybee!

Psalms 84

How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty!
My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young— a place near your altar,  Lord Almighty, my King and my God.

4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you.

Psalms from the Hive

by Jeannie Saum

Research, study, ponder, brainstorm

Design, create, cook, write

Collect, organize, purchase, build

Decisions, decisions!

Who knew the creative process could be so much work!

But it’s still fun!

Hope the payoff will be worth it!

The Dotsons and the Saums are working hard to get ready for the kick-off of our Hive and Honey Beepothecary Products at the local Lithopolis (Ohio) HoneyFest, September 6 and 7, 2013.  Laurie and I are cooking up recipes for health supplements, skin care, leather care and soap.  Steve is busy building things we need like soap molds, display items and signs.  Peter is advising on the technology and organizational issues and lending a helping hand when not at work.  I’ve just read that propolis and beeswax are good for leather treatment, so that is going to be our next endeavor!  We are having fun working together, creating useful products and discovering more and more uses for hive products.

Recently, we held a product test night with our family and friends.  We conducted blind comparison tests of our products with others on the market and had our “test subjects” rate each product using a Google Drive questionnaire form.

The results tallied automatically, so we could see how all participants rated our products and the market products.  In all but one case, our products beat the others, hands down!

This was exciting and encouraging for us!  And our friends and family seemed to have a great time trying all our products and giving us their feedback and suggestions!  We got some good ideas for improvements and other flavors and scents to try.

We are continuing to share the incredible benefits of honey and propolis with family members and friends.  We recently took some propolis tincture and oil to an aunt in South Carolina, to try for her asthma, when nothing else is helping.  Steve’s sister in Oregon is trying it as well, with her boys for their asthma.  We used propolis oil for sunburn at the beach on vacation.  Last week, I had my teeth cleaned and ended up with a sore, puffy area on my gums.  A few drops of propolis applied that evening and I had instant pain relief and the swelling was gone the next morning!  I’m telling you, this is miracle stuff!

Psalms 51

10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,  and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation  and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
