How can people not believe

That God did not create these little bees

Who create perfect hexagonal beeswax cells

And make treasures in the hive that can treat people’s ills?

We’ve been sharing some customer stories and pictures for several years at fairs and festivals, telling about their successes using propolis on wounds.  Though the pictures can be found on our Facebook page, it recently occurred to me that we have never shared them on this blog, where you can see the pictures AND read the story.  So, today, I am going to do this and here is a warning:

IF YOU ARE SQUEAMISH ABOUT WOUND PICTURES, THEN SKIP THIS BLOG ENTRY. DO NOT SCROLL DOWN ANY FURTHER!

Now that you have been forewarned, if you want to see and hear about some amazing success stories about the Power of Propolis, keep reading.

Customer Story #1

Laurie heard on FaceBook about an old high school friend who had undergone elbow surgery and was having difficulty getting the little 2″ wound to heal.  It had been 2 months since the surgery, the doctors had tried all kinds of treatments, yet the wound was still gaping open and weeping.  This fellow, a law enforcement officer, was using up all his sick leave. Laurie sent him a tube of our BEE Rescue to try. He took pictures for us to document what happened.

This is what his wound looked like after 2 months of treatment by his doctors, trying to get this to close up.

Wound had closed up after five days of using BEE Rescue Cream.

He got the BEE Rescue and started using it, applying three times a day. He was able to go back to work at this point.

Customer Story #2

Larry, a 60 something diabetic was working on his running lawnmower one day a few summers ago, when he fell over it.  he gashed his calf open and had to be rushed to the ER.  He received 20+ stitches.  Three weeks later, he called and asked for BEE Rescue.  At this point, his wound was black, oozing infection and gangrenous. It was strongly recommended that he go to the hospital, but he refused.  He stated he was going to use the propolis cream.  He also volunteered to have his wife take a picture each week to document his progress.

Larry had his wife put BEE Rescue Cream on his wound twice a day an re-bandage it.  This is the result, after one week!  All the gangrenous tissue is gone.
The infection is gone and a soft scab is starting to form. AMAZING! And look at the skin around the wound.  It looks better, too.

Larry’s leg after 4 weeks with BEE Rescue put on 2 times a day.

They continued to put BEE Rescue Cream on the wound twice a day.

Pretty amazing transformation using BEE Rescue Cream for 10 weeks.

And here it is after 10 weeks, with twice a day Bee Rescue Cream treatment.

Psalm 147

Praise the Lord. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him!

The Lord builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles of Israel.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.

Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.

I am continuously amazed at the research I find about propolis.  My latest discovery is an article on the National Institute of Health Website, entitled, ” Stan Scheller: The Forerunner of Clinical Studies on Using Propolis for Poor and Chronic Nonhealing Wounds”.   This study was done back in the 1960’s and 70’s by a researcher in Poland, Stan Scheller.  He collected his own propolis and made extracts the same way we do.  He soaked propolis in alcohol, shaking it occasionally, for 4 days, then filtered it. He then used it to treat poor and chronic nonhealing

wounds.

In 1975, poor and chronic non-healing wounds, in 100 patients, were treated between 1972 and 1974.  The target group, consisted of 12 patients with burns, 30 with venous crural ulceration, 10 with local sacral bone pressure ulcers, 23 with suppurative osteitis and arthritis, 15 with suppurative postoperative local wound complications, and 10 with infected traumatic wounds. All the 100 patients, described in the research had been unsuccessfully treated in the previous hospitals. Some people had suffered with the wounds for months and years.  All the patients were treated with 3% ethanol propolis solution. The patients with osteitis and fistulas underwent wound rinsing every day, whereas on the rest of the patients the propolis extract dressings were applied, which were changed every day.

The use of propolis on many kinds of serious burns and wounds showed incredible healing results and this report shows amazing before-and-after pictures.  What amazes me is that nothing seems to have ever come of this!  Propolis showed 80-100% healing of the serious burns and wounds, except for bone infection, which I understand is one
of the most difficult to get rid of.   Just more proof of the amazing power of propolis.

Psalm 91

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,  so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

 Sneezing, wiping runny noses

Head congested, having a cold is

Not much fun. But here’s great news.

There is now something you can do!

About those symptoms  getting us down.

Use PROPOLIS, and they won’t be around!

sick-girl-p2p4jx

I just saw on Facebook that my niece is sick with what she thinks is a bad cold or flu.  She was complaining about how there was nothing she could do about it.  Well, I’m here to tell you, that THERE IS!.  It’s called PROPOLIS and it’s made by the honeybees.

If you are new to this blog, you need to know that propolis is made when the bees go out and collect resin from tree buds and bark.  They take this sticky resin back to their hive, mix it with things in their bodies, and make an even stickier goo with it.  The bees use this substance to seal up cracks in their hive and  coat all the surfaces to sterilize it.   The bees also encase intruders to the hive that they have stung to death, “embalming” the corpse with propolis, so it doesn’t rot and infect the hive.   The beehive is one of the most sanitary environments found.

Propolis use for human medicinal purposes is verified back to the times of early Greeks and Romans.  Modern-day research has been done on it since the early 1900’s, with much done in the last 50 years.  Most of the research had been done in Europe and Asia, and propolis is used all over the world for its medicinal properties.  Though it is not widely known in the US, studies are being done here, and world-wide research is referenced and documented on the government’s National Institute of Health website. (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov)

I am always looking for research to back up what I have read, heard and experienced regarding propolis.  Recently I read a report of a study done in 1998 with human subjects who had rhinovirus – the cause of the common cold.  This study gave half the subjects a propolis extract and half a placebo.  In the group who took the propolis,  their  colds were  2.5 times shorter vs. the contol group!  Their  symptoms improved in 1 day,  and were completely gone in 1-3 days.  In the control group the mean (average) length of the colds was 4.8 days.

On the NIH website, I also found a study on the action of propolis on the infuenza virus that was done in 2008 using mice.  (Anti-influenza virus activity of propolis in vitro and its efficacy against influenza infection in mice. Shimizu T, Hino A, Tsutsumi A, Park YK, Watanabe W, Kurokawa M).  Brazilian propolis extracts were given 3 times a day for 7 days after infection. In the propolis group there was a significant reduction of the virus in the lungs of the infected mice.  Their conclusion was that propolis extract (tincture) may be a possible candidate for an anti-influenza dietary supplement for humans.

Although we have not had true influenza at our house, these studies mirror the success we, our friends and family members have had using propolis for viruses that cause cold and viral symptoms.  We start taking propolis oil or tincture the minute we start feeling sick.  We take 1/2 to 1/3 dropperful, three times a day, until symptoms  are gone.  This usually happens within 2 days.

This is quite amazing in our family, as husband/Dad, Steve, and three of our grown children  have asthma.  Usually, if they get a cold, it triggers their asthma and ends up turning into 3 weeks of bronchitis or pneumonia and a round or two of antibiotics.  With propolis, cold symptoms are gone in two days!  Husband Steve has not seen a doctor for lung issues for three years, where in the past, he would be on round after round of antibiotics all winter.   He now uses propolis as a preventative, taking it once  daily to fend off any germs that might be lurking around.

So , as I wrote  my niece, NO MORE COMPLAINING about there being nothing one can do for colds or viruses –  BECAUSE, THERE IS!   God’s little, tiny creatures, the honeybees, make this  incredible natural substance, called propolis, that is out there waiting for us to start reaping its benefits!

12 A glorious throne, exalted from the beginning, is the place of our sanctuary.
13 Lord, you are the hope of Israel; all who forsake you will be put to shame. Those who turn away from you will be written in the dust because they have forsaken the Lord,  the spring of living water.

14 Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.

Reverie (revery) –(n.) state of dreamy meditation or fanciful musing; a fantastic, visionary, or impractical idea

Every week, it seems, I read about more research that is being done on propolis, honey and pollen.  I get a daily e- newsletter from Apitherapy News which reports the latest findings from apitherapy (the use of bee products for medicinal purposes) research.  If interested, you can sign up for this newsletter at http://apitherapy.blogspot.com.
The articles are sometimes difficult to understand, as they are medical abstracts.  I will attempt to summarize some here, in layperson’s words!

A study was posted in October 2013, titled “Total monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibition by chestnut honey, pollen and propolis” by researchers, O. Yildiz, F. Karahali, Z. Can, H. Sahin, and S. Kolayli,  from   the Department of Chemistry, Science Faculty, Karadeniz Technical University, Trabzon, Turkey.  This study was done to see if propolis, honey or pollen would function as MAO inhibitors (Monoamine oxidase), like many drugs on the market that are used to treat depression and other neurodegenerative illnesses, like Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease.

They found that propolis, honey and pollen all exhibited substantial inhibition of MAO, with propolis having the highest effect. Their Image result for propolisconclusion states that bee products possess a sedative effect and may be effective in protecting humans against depression and similar diseases.  It is amazing to me that a substances created by God’s little creatures, the honeybees, could do such amazing things for us humans. And they do it without college degrees, and laboratories, and artificially made chemicals, and multimillion dollar pharmaceutical companies backing them!

Another study was published in October, 2013 showing that Manuka Honey (from the Manuka trees in New Zealand)  decreases the virulence of the super bug, MRSA! This study is titled, Proteomic and genomic analysis of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) exposed to manuka honey in vitro demonstrated down-regulation of virulence markers, (Whew, that’s a mouthful!), by J Antimicrob Chemother.

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a dangerous pathogen. It is resistance to multiple antibiotics and is very prevalent in healthcare facilities and is easily spread.  It is a serious threat to human health that requires novel interventions.  Manuka honey is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent that is gaining acceptance in the topical treatment of wounds.  But the way it works is only partially understood.  This study set out to investigate the effects of manuka honey on MRSA at a molecular level.Honey
In laboratory experiments, they found that glucose, one of the major sugars in honey, altered the genes in the MRSA  bacteria, reduced its cell division ability and its ability to invade healthy cell tissues.  Authors of this study conclude that these effects of honey on MRSA  need to be investigated by more use on actual MRSA infected patients.  My daughters, who are nurses, tell me that manuka honey IS being used here in the Columbus, Ohio area, to treat wounds, bedsores, and MRSA infections in hospitals and nursing homes.  I also inquired about its use when caring for my mother in Wichita Kansas, and was told medicinal honey is part of their wound care protocol as well.  This is encouraging news!  Natural treasures from our Creator’s flora and fauna CAN be of incredible benefit to our health and well-being!  BEE Power!!

Isaiah 45

2 I will go before you  and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron.
I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the  Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.
For the sake of Jacob my servant, of Israel my chosen, I summon you by name and bestow on you a  title of honor, though you do not acknowledge me.
I am the Lord, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me,
so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting people may know there is none besides me.
I am the Lord, and there is no other.
I form the light and create darkness,  I bring prosperity and create disaster;  I, the Lord, do all these things.
